Leaving Sri Lanka

We will be leaving Sri Lanka in another week or so. On the whole it has been an enjoyable visit. After we got our moorage issues sorted out life was much better here. After leaving here we will be out of touch with no Internet or phone until middle to end of May when we arrive in either Rodriguez or Mauritius. Will try for Rodriguez, but if the wind angle is too tight coming from Chagos Islands will miss it and go straight to Mauritius. We may even do a quick stop at the Maldives on the way down to Chagos depending on our fuel situation and how much wind we get.  Will spent 3 weeks to a month in Chagos.
The first leg from Galle, is 830 miles to Chagos Islands miles which includes our third crossing of the equator.   This leg is expected to be mostly light wind sailing without too much motoring hopefully.

On the crossing from Thailand I noticed a weird growth on the back of by knee, like a weird wort. Every time I banged it, it would bleed like crazy. It would not heal so I went to the Balle hospital and saw a doctor for about $10 and he made an appointment for the next day to cut it out. He did this next day in his surgery with a local anesthetic and put in a couple of stitches and also said he did not think it was cancerous. They did a good job and it only cost be $72.   To see a doctor at hospital here you need to book an appointment in the morning and you then see him that evening at a certain room number.

We bought a new small fiberglass kayak in Galle for about 1/3 the price you would pay for one back home. Our inflatable kayak had all the seams come unglued in the tropic heat.
